WELLNESS PROGRAMME
Remedial support programmes to address community, social and psychological problems that impact the wine and farming business.
Remedial support programmes to address community, social and psychological problems that impact the wine and farming business.
Key ethical risks in wine supply chains, including but not limited to, addictions, depression, low self esteem, conflict, aggression, abusive behaviour, undignified livelihoods and failure to communicate speak directly to the lack of appropriate remedial actions and appropriate remedy to resolve, in fact resolve good working condition and working relationships on farm and in cellars.
The objectives of the Wellness Programme are to minimise the negative impact of psychosocial problems such as alcoholism, aggression, depression etc. of both workers and employers in the workplace and establish a support system where high-risk employees are referred for therapy, rehabilitation and treatment. It aims to equip management with skills and knowledge to deal with people and facilitate opportunity for growth and minimize absenteeism.
Worker and producer wellness is closely tied to organisational performance. Unhappy workers only do mediocre minimal effort at work and unhappy managers and owners, respectively do not manage and lead well.
Key areas that demonstrate wellness include developing connections between people at work, treating people fairly, empowering workers so that work can be delegated and workers are skilled and confident enough to make informed workplace decisions, challenging and inspiring workers and supervisors to learn and push themselves so that they can achieve a sense of accomplishment and go on to get promotions and work themselves into higher positions.
The support, counselling and training will be undertaken by well-trained and accredited senior social workers that have been working with workers and producers in the agricultural sector for a number of years.
A comprehensive needs assessment is undertaken at cellar and farm level for both employees and employers.
One third of employees are to be included.
Once final programme is identified rollout commences with all the role-players, timelines and support identified over agreed period with agreed participants. Continuous monitoring ensures that progress and appropriate interventions are continuously assessed for progress and client and WIETA remain close to the process.
