Worker Training: WIETA Training Session at Boekenhoutskloof Winery:
Empowering Workers with Knowledge

In January 2024, WIETA conducted a comprehensive training session at Boekenhoutskloof Winery in Somerset West, with a total of 45 workers in attendance, including junior management staff. The training focused on two crucial areas:
• National Legislation Training – Workers’ Rights: During this segment, workers were equipped with essential knowledge about their rights as outlined in national legislation. This included information on labour laws, freedom of association, and fair treatment in the workplace.
• National Legislation – Occupational Health and Safety Training: The training also delved into occupational health and safety regulations, emphasising the importance of a safe working environment and measures to prevent accidents and injuries.
The session aimed to empower workers with the information they need to navigate their rights and responsibilities effectively. By providing insights into legal frameworks and safety protocols, WIETA continues to support a culture of compliance and well-being within the wine industry.
Overall, the training at Boekenhoutskloof Winery reflects WIETA’s ongoing commitment to promoting worker empowerment, fostering a safe and fair working environment, and upholding national legislation standards in the agricultural sector.
